Description
Carbon filter cartridges work through the chemical/physical properties of activated carbon (adsorption), in some cases associated with the physical action of different filter media.
Aqua uses various types of activated carbon for its filter cartridges, offering various solutions for the different filtration requirements and different conditions in which they must be implemented, favouring the use of coconut husk activated carbon granules whose specific characteristics make it ideal for treatment of water and fluids in general.
The product meets the following requirements:
GRANULE HARDNESS
• Negligible presence of high residual carbon powder
FILTRATION SURFACE (total specific surface up to 1500 m2/g)
• High adsorption power
• Greater lifespan
HIGH RETENTION CAPACITY
• Negligible ash content, fewer impurities.
The fundamental characteristics to take into consideration in assessing the efficiency of a carbon filter cartridge are as follows:
– PRE-FILTRATION
The presence of an element which allows the water flowing into the cartridge to be treated through an initial effective filtration, with the goal of preserving and prolonging the effectiveness of the carbon
– Performance of the filter bed determined by the quality and quantity of the carbon present, in relationship to the contact time, in other words the time in which the water flowing through the cartridge remains in contact with the carbon – the longer this is, the more effective the action of the carbon itself will be
– POST-FILTRATION
The presence of an element which performs further filtration and eliminates any residual carbon in suspension from the water flowing out.
The simultaneous use of these three elements leads to a pressure drop, but considering the method of action of the active carbon, it is essential if you wish to achieve the best results. As such, when selecting a carbon cartridge, you will need to take into account a consequent but completely normal pressure drop, which is in any case synonymous with the correct operation of the filtration process.
The Pre-Filtration and Post-Filtration are particularly effective in the GAC Aqua cartridges, as these use Melt-Blown filter elements made with the same technology as the FR-N cartridges and thus able to provide incredible filtration performance. Laboratory testing documents the excellent performance of our GAC cartridges.
