Description
Our wound polypropylene cartridges are part of our range of deforming depth cartridges. They are manufactured using 100% non-toxic spun polypropylene, and represent excellent value for money – indeed, although usually classified as a budget type, they are manufactured so as to guarantee a high nominal filtration level.
OPEN-END WASHED SPUN PP CARTRIDGES – Oil residue 0.2% The open-end washed yarn is produced by machinery which allows the manufacturing process to be shortened, thus achieving economic advantages for the finished product. The raw material used for this product is exactly the same as the wash carded type, so as to reduce oil residue, the only difference being that it is not carded but simply manufactured around a BCF (bulk continuous filament) core, making it tougher and more uniform. Although not as strong as the carded type – meaning that the filter cartridge is not as compact – it still offers good filtration performance at a lower cost.
One minor inconvenience with these cartridges is that a small amount of foam is generated on first use, as the BCF core is not washed, and therefore the oil which causes the foaming is not removed in advance. In certain applications this foam, although non-toxic, could compromise post filtration, and it is therefore advisable to know where the cartridge will be used in order to determine whether one type of cartridge or another is suitable. The wound cartridges feature a rigid polypropylene core which guarantees stability. The available lengths range from 4” to 40”, with filtration from 1 microns to 100 microns.
